Crème brûlée is one of my favourite desserts. I tend to be a bit of a purist and don’t often stray from a classic recipe flavoured with a vanilla bean.
To follow yesterday’s anniversary dinner, crème brûlée was an easy choice. But I would challenge myself to do something beyond vanilla. Because the meal was quite heavy, I wanted something that would be refreshing. Lemon always accomplishes that. The combination of lavender and lemon in this reacipe is beautiful. You have the delicate, floral aroma of the lavender with the crisp, refreshing lemon. It’s the perfect way to lighten the crème brûlée.
